The U2Demo project’s recent webinar on Mapping Legal and Regulatory Frameworks for Peer-to-Peer Energy Sharing explored how evolving EU laws enable citizen-driven renewable energy communities. Experts discussed regulatory diversity across member states and U2Demo’s mission to create open-source tools for fair, interoperable energy sharing across Europe.

On 10–11 September, the U2Demo consortium gathered in Bratislava for its second General Assembly, marking a new phase in Europe’s energy transition. Moving from harmonization to integration, the project is transforming research on regulation, consumer behavior, and digital tools into practical solutions that empower citizens and municipalities to build resilient, cooperative energy communities across Europe.

We’re excited to share another publication from the U2Demo project: “Assessing Explainable AI in Photovoltaic Power Forecasting” by Eduardo Gomes, Augusto Esteves, Hugo Morais and Lucas Pereira.

On March 6–7, 2025, the U2Demo consortium gathered high above the Paris skyline at Tour Légende in La Défense for the project’s first General Assembly.

On February 28th, U2Demo was presented at the BRIDGE Knowledge Sharing Session on Cross-Sector and Multi-Energy Integration. This session, organized by the BRIDGE Working Group on Regulation, is part of an ongoing initiative to facilitate knowledge exchange between European energy projects.

Between November 18 to 20, Diana Estefanía Chérrez Barragán, a Dual Degree Ph.D. student affiliated with the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil and Instituto Superior Técnico I INESC ID in Portugal, showcased her research at the IEEE URUCON 2024 conference.
