From 10 to 12 November 2026, the U2Demo consortium will join Europe’s leading energy event, ENLIT Europe 2026, in Vienna. Located in the European Projects Zone at the INESC ID stand (C1.EU-S04), project partners will present the latest developments from U2Demo and engage with stakeholders from across the European energy sector.
Bringing together utilities, distribution system operators, technology providers, policymakers, researchers and citizen energy organizations, ENLIT provides an ideal setting to share the project’s progress and contribute to ongoing discussions about the future of Europe’s energy system.
Demonstrating the Value of Energy Sharing
Throughout the three-day event, U2Demo partners will welcome visitors to the project stand and showcase how innovative energy-sharing models can support a more flexible, efficient and consumer-centred energy system.
The project’s demonstrations explore how citizens, communities and local stakeholders can take a more active role in the energy transition through digital tools, data interoperability and new forms of energy collaboration. By connecting forecasting solutions, flexibility services, energy sharing mechanisms and user-focused digital platforms, U2Demo is helping to create the conditions for broader participation in the clean energy transition.
A Strong Consortium Presence
U2Demo’s presence at ENLIT reflects the project’s multidisciplinary nature. Representatives from EDSO, Energy Web, REScoopVlaanderen, EDP, Watt-IS and VITO will participate onsite, contributing expertise from across the energy value chain.
These interactions highlight one of the project’s defining characteristics: the collaboration between research organizations, technology developers, energy communities, distribution system operators and market actors. This diversity is essential for developing practical solutions that can operate across different national contexts and market environments.
Throughout the event, project partners will exchange experiences with industry representatives and explore how U2Demo’s findings can support broader efforts to accelerate renewable energy integration, increase consumer participation and unlock flexibility at the local level.
Spotlight on Consumer Empowerment
A key highlight of U2Demo’s participation is the session “Power to the Consumer: Digitalization, Energy Sharing and Smart Mobility” on 10 November.
During the session, Annelies Delnooz from VITO represents the project and shares insights from U2Demo’s work on energy sharing and consumer participation. The discussion focuses on how digital technologies can enable new forms of engagement between consumers and energy markets, while also supporting more efficient use of renewable energy resources.
The session demonstrates how energy sharing, interoperable digital solutions and smart energy management can empower citizens to move beyond their traditional role as energy consumers and become active participants in the energy transition.
Building Connections for Future Impact
Beyond presenting project results, ENLIT Europe offeres valuable opportunities to connect with stakeholders working on many of the same challenges addressed by U2Demo. Discussions throughout the event focus on the growing interest in consumer-led approaches to flexibility, local energy markets and community-based energy solutions.
As Europe continues to develop the policy and regulatory frameworks needed to support these emerging models, projects such as U2Demo play an important role in providing real-world evidence, practical experience and tested solutions.
