U2DEMO Featured in the New BRIDGE 2026 Brochure

Published by the European Commission’s BRIDGE initiative, the 2026 edition highlights the community’s vision, mission, strategic objectives, and collaborative work carried out through its four Working Groups covering data management, regulation, business models, and consumer and citizen engagement. The brochure also includes detailed factsheets and an overview of ongoing projects shaping the future of Europe’s energy system. 

U2DEMO Recognised Among Europe’s Leading Energy Innovation Projects

U2DEMO is featured on pages 111-112 of the brochure, where readers can discover the project’s goals, technologies, expected impact, and key exploitable results. The project is presented as part of the Horizon Europe portfolio addressing the creation of standardized and open-source peer-to-peer energy sharing platform architectures for the energy sector. 

According to the brochure, U2DEMO is developing innovative consumer-centred strategies for peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading and energy sharing, with the objective of promoting equitable access to sustainable energy while empowering citizens and Energy Communities. The project brings together 20 partners from eight countries and focuses on creating open-source, interoperable, scalable, and secure tools that support active consumer participation in local energy markets.

The publication also highlights U2DEMO’s use of advanced technologies, including blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, forecasting tools, and decision-support systems designed to increase transparency, trust, and efficiency in energy sharing schemes. These solutions will support flexibility services, demand response programmes, and dynamic pricing models within Energy Communities. 

U2DEMO Demonstration Sites Featured in the Annex

U2DEMO’s demonstration activities are also featured in the Demonstration and Pilot Sites Annex on page 353. The inclusion of these pilot sites underlines the project’s commitment to validating innovative solutions in real-world Energy Community settings across Europe.

The demonstration sites are central to the project’s mission of testing and validating innovative P2P trading and energy-sharing solutions under different governance models and market conditions. They will help build the evidence needed to support future large-scale deployment.

Advancing Energy Democracy in Europe

The inclusion of U2DEMO in the BRIDGE 2026 Brochure highlights the project’s contribution to Europe’s transition towards a more decentralized, digitalized, and citizen-driven energy system. By developing open-source tools for energy sharing and community-based energy management, U2DEMO supports greater consumer empowerment, increased renewable energy uptake, and fairer participation in energy markets.
