U2Demo at the BRIDGE General Assembly 2025

U2Demo was proud to be present at this year’s BRIDGE General Assembly 2025, held on March 25th and 26th at the SQUARE Brussels, joining a vibrant community of Horizon Europe projects and energy stakeholders from across the continent. Together with partners like Klimaan, VITO, and INESC-ID, we contributed to discussions on how to bridge the gap between innovation and real-world market uptake—a key goal of the U2Demo project.

The agenda featured interesting key sessions, including:

  • Policy Updates: Insights into the Affordable Energy Action Plan and the Competitiveness Progress Report by the European Commission.
  • Working Group Presentations: Achievements from BRIDGE Working Groups, covering Data Management, Business Models, Regulations, and Consumer and Citizen Engagement.
  • Panel Discussions: Strategies for overcoming barriers to innovation implementation and unlocking EU funding opportunities.

For Thomas Heylen from Klimaan, attending as part of the “Active Consumers and Citizens” working group, the assembly underscored the importance of citizen empowerment in the energy transition: “The technology for a 100% renewable energy system is already here. Europe is really a frontrunner when it comes to the development of new technologies. What we need now is to empower citizens and communities to truly take part in that energy future.”

U2Demo’s active involvement in such collaborative forums aligns with our mission to develop open-source, scalable tools for peer-to-peer energy sharing, fostering a more democratic and sustainable energy landscape.
