Description
Country: Belgium
KU Leuven is Belgium’s largest university and, founded in 1425, one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. As a leading European research university and co-founder of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), KU Leuven pursues high-quality, innovative, interdisciplinary research.
In U2DEMO, two research groups are involved. The Energy System Integration and Modeling (ESIM) team, led by Prof. Erik Delarue and linked to the Mechanical Engineering Department, provides quantitative tools and results to support an efficient operation of, and transition towards, a low-carbon energy system.
The research group ELECTA (Electrical Energy Systems and Applications) at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT), led by Prof. Geert Deconinck, focuses on robust distributed coordination and control, specifically in the context of smart electric distribution networks. Main interests include smart grids, user-centric energy systems, smart metering, distributed control, robust system design, multi-energy systems and infrastructure interdependencies and dependability modelling.
Role under the Project
In U2DEMO, KU Leuven will focus on market design and the link towards the value creation of P2P and Energy Communities towards Distribution System Operators and Transmission System Operators.
